Which Type of Wallpaper Should I use?

If you are planning on using wallpaper, you might be interested to know there are several types to choose from. It is important to research each one because you want to choose the right wallpaper that works best for its intended use. For example, what you use in the kitchen might not work well in the dining room. Below is a brief summary of some of the types available.

VINLY COATED PAPER-This is treated with acrylic vinyl or polyvinyl chloride. This wallpaper is easy to clean and unaffected by long term exposer to grease or humidity. It is recommended for the kitchen, bathroom and even basement.

COATED FABRIC - This has an underlying layer of fabric also coated with a liquid form of vinyl. It is NOT recommended for humid rooms such as a bathroom or walls exposed to grease such as a kitchen. It is recommended for rooms with low humidity.

PAPER BACKED OR SOLID SHEET VINYL - This has a layer of paper or pulp backed to a decorative vinyl surface. Because of the vinyl surface it is also recommended for high humidity areas. Actually, it is good for almost any climate.

FABRIC BACKED VINYL - This paper consists of fabric laminated to a layer of solid vinyl. There are 2 types of wallpaper included in this area. Solid vinyl is a layer of paper fabric laminated to a solid sheet of vinyl and since the vinyl is solid and not liquid it is considered the most durable. Paper wallpaper consists of a layer of decorative paper that doesn't necessarily have a protective layer laminated to it.

As you can see different areas of the home require different types of wallpaper, so do your research before you buy any wallpaper.
